| The Big
Island consists of many ranches perfect for Horseback riding in Hawaii.
In fact, the Parker Ranch on the Big Island is the second largest
ranch in the country. With so much beautiful ranchland available for
horseback riding its no surprise that Hawaii horseback rides and
horseback stables are a favorite for visitors and locals alike.
Many of the ranches offering horseback riding on the Big Island allow
a more permissive style of riding than found on other islands. Riding on
the Big Island often begins with a xcowboy dress-upx in which your
encouraged to put on ranch boots, chaps, jackets and hats to create a
more authentic xpaniolox feel for your horse ride. Many of the ranches
are more inclined to also allow you to trot or canter your horse if you
have the necessary skills. Still yet another great opportunity provided
by many Big Island ranches is to encourage you to spread out to ride and
not always maintain the nose to tail format so prevalent elsewhere. For
the more seasoned rider - rides are available that will allow you to
swim and picnic on an ultimate waterfall experience. This ride takes you
along the rim of the Waipio Valley, and continues back along the stream
that feeds the spectacular Hiilawe Falls, where you go to a series of
smaller, beautiful waterfalls and secret pools. You can tie up your
horse and hike down to a very private waterfall and pristine
ginger-lined pool. Though not technically a horseback ride the Big
Island also offers the spectacular Kohala mule trail adventure. From
Pololu Valley Lookout you will descend 500 feet down by mule and see
stunning views of 2,000 foot sea cliffs cascading waterfalls and end at
a black sand beach. |
