The Battleship Missouri
|
|
The
"Mighty Mo" was the last and most celebrated battleship ever built. It
was aboard her decks that the
documents ending WW II were signed, bringing a new era of friendship
and cooperation in the Pacific. The USS Missouri Memorial Assn. is a
private non-profit organization not supported by government funding.

CAPTAINS TOUR - This 90 minute tour begins in the Captains
Cabin with light refreshments and a briefing. Guests receive a
behind the scenes tour to areas not open to the general public. This
is an exclusive executive tour of the Battleship Missouri Memorial.

Stories are told of a time when Missouri was for 12 days the floating
White House for President Truman. Guests walk through the crew's
galley, where meals were prepared, and are escorted up to a crew's
berthing compartment restored to as it may have looked in the 1940's.
A tour highlight is a pause in the Captain's Cabin where guests are
treated to light refreshments served on actual admiral's china. View
the ship's Combat Engagement Center, her nerve center during combat,
and the Flag Bridge, where Admiral Halsey stood during the final days
of World War II. The Captain's Tour concludes its journey though
Battleship Missouri's past on the deck where the Japanese formally
surrendered to the Allies, bringing World War II to a close. |

CHIEF'S GUIDED TOUR - This hour tour includes the Combat
Engagement Center and other areas not open to the public. Tours
start every 10 minutes, guest are then free to tour at leisure. |

EXPLORER TOUR - This tour gives guests a behind the scenes
look into the ships machinery and working areas. Guests visit the
ship Post Office, machine shop, crews berthing area and other areas
not open to the public. The new Explorer Tour gives you an exclusive
behind the scenes look into the ships impressive fire rooms,
machinery, and working areas. After donning special equipment and
using flashlights to assist in penetrating the depths of the Might
Mo, you will visit areas of the ship restricted for all other
visitors. During your 90-minute tour, you will view Missouri's post
office and walk through a crews berthing area as it was left in 1992
at the ships decommissioning. |
The guided portion of the tour ends on Missouri's' Surrender Deck.
Everyone on the tour is issued a meal chit which entitles them to a
free meal from the Missouri's snack shop. MUST BE PHYSICALLY FIT.
