Oahu Snorkeling and Sailing
If you're planning on snorkeling or sailing while on Oahu you'll want
to check out all of the snorkeling companies and sailing vessels
available from Honolulu
 Great
Oahu snorkeling spots can be found off the coast of Waikiki
and Honolulu
but many excellent snorkel areas can be found off the coast
of Waianae, Kailua, and Haleiwa as well. Hanauma Bay is also
one of the great snorkeling spots on Oahu and has easy
access from the shore.
There are numerous snorkel boats on Oahu and many
will include round-trip transportation from your Waikiki
hotel. Most trips take you to ocean areas close to Waikiki
but others will take you to other areas across the island.
One such trip takes you over the mountains through the
Pali Tunnel to Kaneohe Bay where you'll sail to a sand bar
that overlooks the film site of Gilligan's Island and the
picturesque island called Chinaman's Hat!
Many reefs off Oahu are teeming with
fish and have elaborate coral
formations. Examples of such reefs would
be on the North Shore at Haleiwa. In
addition to beautiful reefs, one can
almost always find schools of dolphins
off the leeward coast at Waianae.
Many of Oahu's snorkel boat charters
will also include sailing as a part
of your ocean experience. Some boats do
sailing charters exclusively and will
likely include Mai Tai's and other
beverages as a part of your Oahu sailing
adventure. If you plan to get out in the
stiff Hawaiian trades for an
invigorating sail your best time to go
would generally be mid-afternoon.

Blue Hawaii Adventures is an Oahu based boat charter company that
specializes in "Private Charters". In fact, it cannot be booked any
other way except by private charter. They have three distinct and very
different boats.
HAWAIIAN RAINBOW- an 87 ft power yacht which is coast gurard
certified for 148 passengers.
ALA KAZAM- which at 60 ft. is argueably the one of the most
luxurious fishing boats in Hawaii.
Although all three boats are based on Oahu, they can at an additional
fee, be used as a private charter from any of the Hawaiian Islands.

HAWAIIAN RAINBOW- 2 hour exclusive. - The Hawaiian Rainbow
was completely refurbished in December of 1999. She has three decks:
--The top deck is fully carpeted with seating around the interior
aft deck including a full service bar; also a food service area is
located near the top deck bar. The top deck is where the pilothouse
is located, which has VIP seating for up to eight passengers.

The
main deck aft has the spiral staircase that takes the passengers to
the top deck. At the base of the stairs is the sound system that
controls the sound through out the vessel and this is where the
entertainers play music. Forward of the sound system is the dance
floor and up scale restrooms are forward of that. Amidships is the
main cabin with a full service ;bar. Adjacent to the bar is the main
saloon. Forward of the main cabin is a spacious open deck with seating
for forty passengers.
The
lower deck aft has a swim platform with two showers and speakers so
that the swimmers will be able to listen to the music while swimming.
Forward of the swim step is a food service area with eight chaffing
dishes, down lighting and sound system. In the main cabin are glass
bottom viewing boxes with glass tabletops for eating and viewing the
bottom at day or night. The Hawaiian Rainbow is a one of a kind vessel

Enjoy an exciting sail from the North Shore to the Waimea Bay area
aboard Oahu's “Ho'o Nanea”. Picnic snorkel sails are offered in the
summer, and watch whaling in the winter. Oahu sunset cruises and
private charters (for up to 25 passengers) can be booked year round.

North Shore Shark Adventure

NORTHSHORE SHARK ADVENTURES - Tours leave out of the Haleiwa Small
Boat Harbor in historic Haleiwa
Town, about an hour's drive from Waikiki. A safety briefing is given
at the start of the tour. Shark Adventures uses "Kailolo"
(water crazy) a 26 foot Anderson boat with a swim step on the transom
of the boat.
Two
hour tours starting in the early morning hours are available
throughout the day.

SHARK CAGE TOUR - Travel offshore 3 to 4 miles. Once you get
to the area, the shark cage is placed in the water. The cage floats
on the surface it measures 7x5x9' high and made of plexi glass. It
can hold 2 people very comfortably, however up to 4 people have been
in it at a time, depending on the weather and ocean conditions.
Bring an underwater camera to get some of the best photographs of
Hawaiian Sharks possible anywhere. The size of the sharks range from
5 to 15 feet. These sharks will be only inches away from the cage.
You may bring your own mask and snorkel, however, fins are not
necessary. Masks and snorkels are also provided on the vessel. 2
hour tour.
You may stay as long as you want in the cage to enjoy the
spectacular view.

|
Get Wet With The Dolphins. Imagine this: you're in the water, with
a mask and snorkel, surrounded by Spinner Dolphins as they go about
their everyday activities. Watch them swimming or playing and if your
lucky, maybe they'll do a spin for you. Novice snorkelers.... No
Problems. Your professional guide will be in the water with you,
giving advice and pointing out dolphin behavior. Snorkeling and safety
gear provided.
Things we recommend you bring along: Swimsuit, Towel, Cameras
(including video), lots and lots of film, sunscreen, light clothing
for cover-up and a small bottle of water.

Snorkeling gear, flotation tube, Baja Bags (for dry storage), rain
gear (rarely needed) and all safety equipment is provided.
