Simply said…Bora Bora is the most beautiful island in the world.
Honeymooners and romantics from around the world have laid claim to this
island where Mt. Otemanu pierces the sky, tropical slopes and valleys
blossom with flower, and palm-covered motu (islets) circle an incredibly
clear blue lagoon. It is located approximately 160 miles northwest of the
island of Tahiti.
|
|
The island’s ancient name "Pora Pora," believed to mean "first born,"
came from Polynesian legends describing this as the first island to rise
when Taaroa, the supreme god, fished it out of the waters after the mythical
creation of Havai’i (now known as Raiatea).
|
|
The lagoon, linked to the ocean by
Teavanui pass is a natural swimming pool which offers a large panel of water
pleasures such as diving, sailing, jet-skiing, snorkeling or even cruising
on glass bottom canoes. Bora Bora is the ideal place for enjoying those
activities as well as sunbathing on the white sand beaches of Matira point
or on the motus (islets) scattered on the warm crystal-clear waters. You can
also take unforgettable walks on those motus, especially on Motu Tapu where
visitors will enjoy the forbidden pleasures of an islet formerly reserved
for kings. |
