The second largest of the Marquesas Islands, Hiva Oa, is a
majestic and historic island known for its wild untamed landscape,
giant stone tiki, archaeological sites, endless vistas and the
final resting place of the Belgian poet/composer Jacques Brell and
French artist Paul Gauguin. Surrounded by the peaks of Mt. Temetiu
and Mt. Feani, the main village of Atuona lies on a peaceful port
at the head of Taaoa Bay, also known as Traitors Bay.
